What we do

 
SOCIAL JUSTICE & GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT is an Association/Non-governmental, non –political, and non-profit organisation with more than 40 members comprising women and youths.  The organisation was founded in 2000, but officially registered in May 2004 with the Edo State Government Nigeria. Our constitution was written and certified by the Customary Court, Okada..  The aims and objectives of the Organisation as enshrined in the constitution are as follows:-
To promote Economic Empowerment of rural women  in Edo State  through micro  credit facilities  to achieve the
following among others:
Efficient and sustainable utilization of natural resources  through medium scale farms towards improve livelihood poverty alleviation and rural development
Creating awareness and encouragement about the entrepreneurship potential in arable farm, cocoa farm, plantain farm, pineapple farm and small scale livestock farms for processing and marketing.
                                     Capacity building for women through vocational trainings etc
To promote Scholarship and Educational  Programmes among the  Youths (boys and Girls) in the rural areas of Edo State as follows-
To help underprivileged youths boys/girls to acquire skill acquisition in the areas of Computer/information  technology. To promote the donations of Educational Textbooks, Notebooks, and educational materials to both Primary and Secondary School students.
To renovate and build Primary/Secondary School blocks and borehole for rural communities in Edo State.
Our Policy 
We  are committed to long term sustainability and improving the lives of the poor through compassion and service. We implement projects that work to empower citizens at the community level. Hence, once a grant is received to implement a project, it is our policy to facilitate the longevity of the project long after the grant period expires.

Past activities and accomplishment of the organization to date

(i)     Trained 15 boys and girls on 9 months Diploma course in computer technology.
(ii)    Dug well for Ofunwegbe village community women, Ofunwegbe village
(iii)   Participated in a conference organized and sponsored by the Niger
         Delta Development Commission (NDDC) held in PortHarcourt Rivers State Nigeria
(iv)   Participated in a conference organized and sponsored by the Niger  Delta Development Commission held in Precious
         Palm Royal Hotel Benin City  Edo
(v)     Provided micro-credit funding to 30 women in agriculture i.e  Cassava, Plantain, and pineapple farmers. Provided agricultural
          Farming implements e.g. hybrid seeds and fertilizers to 10 Okada youths farmers.
        Provided Scholarship to 10 Secondary Schools students to attend secondary
         and  primary schools located in the local communities of Ovia North East, and Ovia South West LGA of Edo State respectively.
(vi)    Donated about 2000 (80 leaves exercise notebooks/textbooks to 5 secondary
          and primary schools.
 (vvi)  Attended various conferences and seminars locally and internationally
