In a time in which humanitarian ​crises are increasingly apparent, much attention has been given to victims in the immediate aftermath of crises and instability. While this is important, people in the rural areas of Nigeria, particularly Edo State are also victims of a greater crisis--poverty. The effects of Nigeria disparities are widespread and evident; the needs of the poor are commonly overlooked in light of the most recent humanitarian relief and rebuilding efforts. With poverty comes a host of additional challenges including stigma, discrimination, and social injustice. It is the mission of Social Justice & Grassroots Development to work towards the alleviation of unnecessary suffering of some women and youths in Edo State. We work to give people hope and happiness.

 Social Justice & Grassroots Development is an NGO (nongovernmental organization) and nonprofits working to find sustainable solutions for women and youths living in poverty in Edo State. We undertake projects that empower people to take charge of their lives. The right to life is a basic human right that should be afforded to all Nigerians regardless of socioeconomic status, gender, ethnic background and religion. Our approach is to combat poverty by understanding its root causes. We believe that by giving people tools, investing in their welfare and quality of life, the poor themselves will have an increased capacity to serve as a force for change. Social Justice & Grassroots Development was founded in 2000 but officially registered with the Edo State Government in May, 2004 by  Mr. John O. Aigbokhaode a native of Uokha in Owan East Local Government Area of  Edo State. Mr. John O. Aigbokhaode has traveled extensively within the country and shared a deep concern and compassion for the welfare of the underprivileged women and youths .  Based in Okada, Social Justice & Grassroots Development is managed by Mr. John O. Aigbokhaode. He is also senior staff member of Igbinedion University, Okada.  We at Social Justice & Grassroots Development believe that it is an inherent responsibility to help humanity.
